PT11H Thermodynamic Steam Trap
A full stainless steel thermodynamic steam trap with inbuilt strainer for steam header and main line drainage, rated to 600 psig / 800°F.
- IBR / ASME standard
- Nationwide service
Overview
The PT11H Thermodynamic Steam Trap by Pennant Engineering is a high-capacity thermodynamic steam trap with an inbuilt strainer in full stainless steel construction, best suited for header and main line drains and drip legs. The disc and seat are induction hardened with the seat harder than the disc for prolonged continuous operation. A three-port design with condensate entry below the disc ensures clean, parallel disc lift, reducing localized wear. Rated to 600 psig maximum allowable pressure and 800°F, it suits fluctuating loads and high condensate duty.
End-connection flanges of ASTM A105 forged carbon steel are welded on, and the trap can be maintained in place without disturbing the piping connections.
Built and supplied by ME Engineering to IBR / ASME standards, with full documentation and nationwide service support.

Applications
Benefits
Full stainless steel construction gives better mechanical strength and corrosion resistance than carbon or alloy steel trap bodies, which extends service life in wet, corrosive condensate environments typical of main line drainage.
Induction-hardened disc and seat with the seat deliberately harder than the disc means wear concentrates on the replaceable disc rather than the fixed seat, so routine maintenance is a cheap disc swap rather than a seat re-machine or body replacement.
Three-port design with condensate entering below and concentric to the disc produces a clean, parallel disc lift rather than a tilted one, which reduces localized wear and gives more consistent cycling over the trap's life.
Inbuilt strainer with a large screen area protects the disc and seat from pipeline debris while resisting choke-up, which is the primary failure cause in thermodynamic traps on new or dirty pipelines.
600 psig / 800°F limiting conditions place this at the high-pressure, high-temperature end of thermodynamic trap capability, making it suitable for superheated steam mains where lower-rated traps cannot be used.
Maintainable without disturbing piping connections means the disc, seat, and strainer can be serviced in place after isolation, avoiding the labor and downtime of cutting the trap out of the line.
Three end-connection types (screwed, flanged, socket weld) let the same trap integrate into welded high-pressure mains or serviceable screwed branch lines without changing product.
